The Beginning.

Here we are, the final year, and the sypnosis of one of my final year modules.



A two-part Assignment in which you will:
1 -
and live action video footage, shows interaction between the live action and CG assets.
Create a digital movie that: demonstrates a visual effect, contains a computer-generated asset
2 -
into a chosen visual/special effect used in the industry.

Part 1 - Movie 60%
Create a digital movie using a variety of visual effects techniques but to include
following:
at least one of the
Green screen
Motion tracking
The movie
CG Physics Simulationmust:
Show interaction between video footage and computer generated assets
Be a QuickTime movie which can play on the SHU PCs in lab 9139
Be in Standard Definition Widescreen resolution
Be between 10 and 30 seconds in length
The movie
Be under 15 Megabytesdoes not require titles, credits or music

Part 2 – Written Document 40%
Produce an accompanying document in
two parts.
overcome, what you have learnt and write a
Part (A): Describe the idea behind your movie, the problems you have faced andcritical analysis of your work.
Part (B): Research into the history of one of the following visual effects…
o
Photographic artefacts in Visual Effects
o
Element implementation / Matting
o
Green screen footage
o
Motion control
matter through relating your research to examples which you have a personal interest in
(IE: If writing about Motion Control, find where it is used in a film which you personally like
and use that as an example in your writing)
Your research document must convey a personal exploration of your chosen subject
pages with a minimum font size of 10.
Your written work has no word count limit but must not exceed 4 standard Word document
You may use images to embellish your report but only if relevant and illustrate your topic

Submission Date
Friday 9
Both your final movie (.mov) and written work (.docx) must be submitted for this module using the
online submission section for the module on Black Board.
th December 2010 before 3pm.
